It was my first experience at a tournament. There were several "big names" there. I saw Mr. Lehman talk to two young boys during the round. He gave them balls and signed them at the end of the day. I had seen how kind he was to everyone. He signed balls. He laughed and talked to people. He even spoke to me- a retired school teacher. I ran in to the pro shop and bought a ball for my husband. Mr. Lehman was gone by then. I asked one of the big names to autograph the ball. He pushed it away and yelled at me-telling me that he didn't give away his autograph on balls....What a difference from the gentleman who took the time to be so kind to people. He seems to be doing well today (Apr18,2009) I hope that he wins the tournament. Even if he doesn't he's a winner in my book. In 2007 I saw Mr. Lehman play in Hawaii. I was lucky enough to attend the U.S. Open on Long Island last June, and even better I had the fortune to attend on the Friday session. (There was a LOT of rain on Thursday and also some more on Saturday) I watched most of the tourney from a hill behind the 17th green, and as Mr. Lehman walked up the hill to the 18th tee box I was leaning over the ropes encouraging him and his playing partners (Rocco Mediate and Kenny Perry). To my shock and surprise Mr. Lehman looked me square in the eye and slapped me high-five as he was walking up the hill. What an awesome highlight for my fantastic day! I wish him all the success in the world. Mr. Lehman also made my day at a tournament last year.
